Our team of knowledgeable and experienced project managers, linguists, formatters and medical professionals make it easy for you to get the accurate and high quality translations you are looking for. The translation process is fully customizable to meet your needs and can include:
Need Assessment & Project Management - managing the details so you don’t have to!
A translation coordinator is assigned to each client to manage and control the quality of services throughout the translation process and ensure consistency in project management. The coordinator will discuss the specifics of the project with the client, including time frame, costs and target audience.
A glossary is a set of terms specific to each client’s company and industry. This glossary is used to ensure that the terminology is consistent with the terms already utilized by the client's foreign subsidiaries. Our team of linguists will collaborate with the client and their associates to create a company specific glossary that has been approved by the client’s international reviewers.
Translation memories are easily-accessible databases of full phrases, extracted from a client’s text. The entries in a translation memory are taken directly from our human-created translations; they are not created or modified by a computer. The translation memory simply stores each phrase from a client’s document in a way that makes it easy for the translator to see how he/she previously translated the same or a similar sentence in the past. This enables us to improve consistency and offer price reductions for repetitions, both within a single document, and from document to document.
The more repeated text used in a client’s documents, the greater the discount applied towards their translation costs.
We will automatically use or create a translation memory with any documents provided in an editable Word or Excel format. Documents provided in other formats must be first converted to an editable Word or Excel format in order to benefit from translation memories. We can provide conversion and glossary compilation as additional services, at the request of the client.
Translation, Editing & Review - professional translators and medical specialists accurately convert your text
All of our linguists are native speakers of the language into which they translate.
A professional translator, specializing in medical translation, performs the initial conversion of the text into the target language.
The technical aspects are then reviewed by an SME editor (Subject Matter Expert - a M.D. or Ph.D. recipient, or other medical industry professional) who is currently working in the field.
The linguistic reviewer, another professional linguist, reviews the text for spelling, grammar, syntax, etc.
This three-stage process is vital to the fluency and accuracy of the translation. While a document that has undergone translation only will still be a correct translation, it may not have the most current terminology (as verified by the SME editor) and won’t read like a native language original (as the linguistic reviewer can provide after his/her thorough editing for fluency). Just as an English document must go through several drafts before become print-ready, so too does the translation benefit from having the expertise of three individuals.
Client Translation Review - a chance to review the text with your associates, before formatting
We use the client's expertise and working knowledge of their products by collaborating with their overseas affiliates, who review the translation and provide their comments. Changes to the technical terms are input at no charge; changes to style or general changes to the text are input at an hourly rate.
Formatting & Galley Review - ensuring correctly formatted versions that match your template
Once the text is finalized, our formatter uses the formatted English files to flow in the foreign language text. The formatted document is then galley reviewed by the original linguistic reviewer. Galley review refers to the process of proofing the formatted foreign language version for correct hyphenation, placement, and formatting. We can also galley review proofs which have been formatted by our clients' own graphics department. Our formatting services include:
DTP formatting of the foreign language versions (PageMaker, QuarkXPress, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
Import of graphic files
Electronic files (PDF, EPS, TIF, etc.)
Client Galley Review - your opportunity for a final pre-production review
PDF proofs of the formatted versions are submitted to the client for approval. Their in-house graphics staff will have the opportunity to review the proofs and suggest changes. Technical changes are input at no charge; stylistic changes, or changes that do not reflect the original source text, are input at an hourly rate.
Final Documents
The final documents will be delivered by email. If the files are large, we can either post them on our secure FTP site or mail a CD. Hard copies, a lino output or camera ready copies are available upon request.
